2020 Spring Slate of New Original Crime Drama Includes

“New Scotland Yard Files” Produced by ITN Productions

CBS Reality closed another successful year by maintaining its position as the #1 factual entertainment channel in the UK amongst women 16+. The channel delivered 1.2% of the UK’s adult commercial TV audience in 2019, and attracted six million adults every month.[2]

CBS Reality continues to showcase acclaimed original true crime programming to deliver its ratings; seven out of the top 10 individual broadcasts in 2019 were CBS Reality original productions, each generating over 200,000 adult viewers.[3] The most popular titles include “Donal MacIntyre’s Murder Files”, “The Real Prime Suspect”, “Evidence of Evil”, and “Voice of a Killer”.

CBS Reality is part of the CBS UK channel portfolio, which delivered its highest ever share of adult commercial impacts in 2019 with a 2.73% SOCI (share of commercial impacts), up 1.5% on 2018.[4]  The other channels included in the portfolio are CBS Justice, CBS Drama and Horror Channel.

The channel’s 2020 Spring slate includes a new 10-part true crime series “New Scotland Yard Files”, which covers the most mysterious and intriguing murders in London. In the series, New Scotland Yard detectives open their files to tell the inside stories of how they caught some of the capital’s most notorious killers. Each episode of the series uses ITN Productions’ extensive archive, evocative reconstructions and in-depth interviews to take viewers through the twists and turns of a murder investigation in extraordinary detail, to reveal how police finally identify and catch the killer.

The series is presented by former New Scotland Yard detective Peter Bleksley, who brings unique insight into the workings of murder investigations, with contributions from the journalists who

covered the stories as they unfolded, criminologists who analyse the methods and motives of the murderers and forensic specialists who provide vital evidence to ensure the guilty are convicted.

Cases covered include the murder of David “Sinders” Morley on London’s South Bank, the Stockwell Strangler, who targeted elderly men and women and struck fear into the streets of south London, and the murder of former pop star Michael Menson who died just because he took the wrong bus.

CBS Reality will also air two returning series in March. In season two of “The Real Prime Suspect”, premiering on 17th March, former Met Police Officer and the inspiration for the character of DCI Jane Tennison, Jackie Malton will examine 10 further murder cases. Season three of “Evidence of Evil”, a series about the role of forensics breakthroughs, will premiere on 18th March.

Film & Arts Greenlights the Original Documentary “Breaking Music”, A Transformational Voyage About Music

The AMC Networks International – Latin America brand to produce

a show about tango and its connections to classical music

hosted by German baritone Benjamin Appl

 

AMC Networks International – Latin America’s arts and entertainment brand, Film & Arts, confirmed the commissioning of their new original documentary “Breaking Music” (1×60’) in Buenos Aires and Berlin. The new documentary, which is set to premiere later this year, will explore connections between different music genres – tango and classical – and will showcase world renowned artists.

In “Breaking Music”, Film & Arts will follow German baritone Benjamin Appl on the streets of both capital cities. Throughout this trip, Appl will look for the similarities and differences between the genre he masters and the artistry of tango. Along the way, difficulties and surprises will arise making him rethink what he previously knew about this style and why Buenos Aires is still tango’s musical factory. In Berlin, accompanied by renowned pianist Jose Gallardo, he’ll perform for an audience of music aficionados, narrating his adventures and premiering an original song composed for this occasion.

“This exciting new original production highlights our commitment to showcasing breakthrough artistry on Film & Arts through a wide range of subjects. The 37-year-old artist is recognized as “the current front-runner in the new generation of Lieder singers” by Gramophone Magazine in the United Kingdom. He has performed in the main European music houses like the Barbican Centre London (UK), the Concertgebouw Amsterdam (Holland), the Wiener Konzerthaus and Laeiszhalle Hamburg (Both in Germany).

“Breaking Music” is an AMC Networks International – Latin America original production for Film & Arts. Trinity Contenidos will serve as Associate Producer and holds exclusive rights for international distribution. Frame Zero Argentina is the production company commissioned for the production. The show is directed by Marcelo Lezama, Film & Arts’ general producer and written by Martín Preusche (“Cumbia Ninja”, “Kdabra”).

AMC Studios Secures International Sales with Amazon Prime Video and AMC Networks International for Third Series in “The Walking Dead” Universe

 

The Series Will Be Available on Prime Video Across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa and Europe, AMC Networks International Will Air the Series on AMC in Latin America, Spain and Portugal

 

NEW YORK, NY, October 7, 2019 – AMC Studios announced today that it has successfully sold the third television series in the “The Walking Dead” universe around the world. Amazon Prime Video will carry the new series across Asia-Pacific, the Middle East, Africa, and Europe (excluding Spain and Portugal), while AMC Networks International will air it on AMC in Latin America, Spain and Portugal.

The highly-anticipated 10-episode series is currently in production in the U.S. state of Virginia and is set to premiere in 2020. The third series in the expanding universe of “The Walking Dead” is produced and distributed by AMC Studios and will air in North America on AMC.

The third installment of the franchise will feature two young female protagonists and focus on the first generation to come-of-age in the apocalypse as we know it. Some will become heroes. Some will become villains. In the end, all of them will be changed forever. Grown-up and cemented in their identities, both good and bad.

The series made its panel debut at New York Comic Con this past Saturday, with participants including Co-Creators Scott M. Gimple and Showrunner Matt Negrete, along with cast members Aliyah Royale, Alexa Mansour, Annet Mahendru, Nicolas Cantu, Hal Cumpston and Nico Tortorella.

Patrick Connolly Named Senior Vice President of Programming and Marketing, AMC Networks International

 

New York, NY – 13 August 2019 – AMC Networks International (AMCNI) announced today it has named Patrick Connolly Senior Vice President of Programming and Marketing.

Connolly, a veteran of AMC Networks International, will take on this expanded new role which will include overseeing marketing activities for the AMC and SundanceTV global brands alongside AMCNI’s leading regional brands and channels in more than 130 countries. In addition, Connolly will continue to lead on-air creative and programming activities for AMC Global and SundanceTV Global. Connolly will also continue to serve as executive producer of all film festival coverage for SundanceTV Global. He will continue to be based in New York and report to Harold Gronenthal, Executive Vice President, Programming and Marketing, AMCNI.

Connolly was named Senior Vice President of Programming, AMC / SundanceTV Global in 2018. In this role, he successfully optimized synergies across the company’s domestic and international offices and leveraged opportunities with acquisitions and co-productions across AMC and SundanceTV services around the globe. Prior to that, he was Vice President of Programming and Scheduling, AMC / SundanceTV Global.

“Patrick is a skilled media strategist with key insights into the content industry across programming genres,” commented Gronenthal. “He has been instrumental in expanding the company’s efforts in offering award-winning programming to global audiences. Connolly joined AMC Networks in 2011. Prior to his work with AMC / SundanceTV Global, he was a scheduling and programming consultant with SundanceTV in the United States and Showtime. In these roles he helped with planning strategy, program scheduling, and ratings analysis for new series.

Connolly began his career in programming at Fox, where he held various roles at Fox Kids / Fox Family / Fox Children’s Network including Director of Planning and Scheduling and Executive Director of Programming and Development, rising through the ranks and ultimately joining Fox Broadcasting where he served as Vice President of Children’s Programming. In that role he oversaw all aspects of children’s programming at the network, including acquisitions, scheduling, marketing and on-air.

He also worked as a documentary programming consultant at Sundance Film Festival and as a panels programmer at Outfest and moderator at BAFTA NY.

Active in various industry organizations, Connolly serves as Co-Chair of BAFTA NY’s Digital/Social Media and previously served on the board of BAFTA New York. He is also a member of Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS), the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, NATPE and PROMAX. In addition, he serves as Executive Champion in the LGBTQIA+ group at AMC Networks.

Connolly has a degree in English literature from UCLA.
