AMC Networks International Honoured with Series Launch of the Year for AMC’s “NOS4A2” at Content Innovation Awards

“NOS4A2” Returns to AMC for Season Two in 2020

AMC Networks International (AMCNI) has been honoured at the prestigious Content Innovation Awards at MIPCOM in Cannes.  The network was a winner in the Series Launch of the Year category for the global marketing campaign of the acclaimed first season of the supernatural horror series “NOS4A2.” AMCNI won the trophy for the second year in a row following last year’s award for the first season of the anthology series “The Terror.”

The Content Innovation Awards is an initiative from TBI – Television Business International and sister publication Digital TV Europe that celebrates innovation in content, distribution and the wide-ranging achievements of the companies and individuals who are helping transform today’s global television industry. The gala, which is in its fifth year, gathered some of the biggest players from the industry to salute recent achievements. Award entries were judged by an esteemed panel of journalists and industry experts.

AMCNI – Central and Northern Europe also received a nomination at the ceremony for Factual TV Project of the Year for Spektrum’s critically acclaimed “Untold Stories of Eastern Europe with Emir Kusturica.”

“This award highlights the importance we place on creatively launching and promoting the exceptional lineup of series we offer on AMC globally and the value they provide to our audiences, distribution and advertising partners,” said Patrick Connolly, Senior Vice President, Programming and Marketing, AMCNI. “We’re thrilled to receive this honor for the second year in a row from the Content Innovation Awards and look forward to sharing the chilling new season of ‘NOS4A2’ with audiences next year.”

AMC will premiere a second season of “NOS4A2” in 2020. The new 10-episode season, which is currently in production in the U.S., centers on Vic McQueen (Ashley Cummings), a gifted young woman who discovers she has a supernatural ability to find lost things. This ability puts her on a collision course with Charlie Manx (Zachary Quinto), a seductive immortal who feeds off the souls of children, then deposits what remains of them into Christmasland – an icy, twisted Christmas village of Manx’s imagination where every day is Christmas Day and unhappiness is against the law. Vic strives to defeat Manx and rescue his victims – without losing her mind or falling victim to him herself. The series also stars Jahkara Smith, Olafur Darri Olafsson, Virginia Kull and Ebon Moss-Bachrach.

Based on the best-selling 2013 Joe Hill novel of the same name, season one of “NOS4A2” ranked as a Top 20 cable drama and the #2 new basic cable drama among adults 25-54 and 18-49 in Nielsen Live +3 viewing in the U.S. The show also received acclaim from critics around the world. Den of Geek in the UK called the drama “chilling and fantastic,” while UOL in Brazil said it has “everything to become your new terror addiction.” Time Out in Portugal said the show is “perfect for those who love when horror is more than just scares,” while Player in Hungary called it “the most unique atmosphere for a television show ever.”

“NOS4A2” is produced by AMC Studios in association with Tornante Television. The series is executive produced by Joe Hill, showrunner Jami O’Brien and Lauren Corrao.
